Innovation is closely related to entrepreneurship. Innovation is a specific function of entrepreneurship, ie, activities that bring resources with a new capacity to create prosperity. The most important thing of innovation as the basis of science is idea, implementation, and usability. An entrepreneur is the innovator who combines different technologies and business concepts to produce new goods or services, which are able to recognize every favorable opportunity, strategize, and managed to implement his ideas.
A direct relationship between research institutions with the business world is in the process of making a technology concept into a commercially valuable product. In this process there are at least three steps that must be passed, namely:
Center for Textile (CFT) as one research institute in the field of textiles, through PDDC program is trying to take a role in the development of creative products. One of the creative product that can be produced and in rapid development in the market is fashion product. Obtained through the selection of raw materials that have certain characteristics, engine modification process, fashion design technology and its development of manufacturing techniques that utilized creativity from CFT experts.
New Textile Materials
The new textile material is products of textile that focused on function and performance. The new material is a development of existing textiles and textile products, which is more modern and superior. Technological process is conducted various ways, for example through nanotechnology, composite technology, etc. PDDC has a development strategy in the field of new textile materials such as ramie/coconut fiber product, geotextile, membrane, filter from natural fibers.
Currently, the fiber manufacturing technology for medical purposes and other special purposes relies heavily on community needs. Developments of smart and interactive textile is growing average per year projected to reach 36% by 2009 and special market share including medical textiles is expected to grow more rapidly. In medical textiles, CFT has done some research, such as the manufacture of surgical thread (suture) from chitosan, primary wound dressing from alginate and nano-scale wound dressings from PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) materials. The current research on medical textile conducted by CFT primarily is the manufacturing of chitosan membrane and alginate nano-composite for primary wound dressing.
